New opportunities netted in Somerset

Inward investment organisation, Somerset 3D, has been successful in its latest bid to attract business to the county, as Easynet Global Services opens its new Centre of Excellence in Shepton Mallet.

Easynet, award winners in the global technology industry, confirmed its plans to relocate its customer service operation from London to Somerset, providing an estimated 70 new jobs in the area.

The new service centre draws together all UK customer operations functions including sales support, billing and collections, service delivery and service assurance and is home to Easynet’s video conferencing operations centre.

Commenting on the move, Easynet’s UK Managing Director, Adrian Thirkill, said, “We have a long and happy history with Shepton Mallet and the surrounding area, so investing in a new Centre of Excellence here was an easy decision to make.” He continued, “The creation of 70 jobs is great news for the South West, particularly in this challenging economic climate.”

Somerset 3D ensured Easynet’s transfer was a smooth one and is delighted such a successful business has chosen to relocate to the county. Chief Executive of Somerset 3D, Rupert Cox, commented, “The move is fantastic news for Somerset and especially for those in the Shepton Mallet area. Having 70 new jobs open up is great for the local economy, and the move enables Easynet’s staff to live and work in a beautiful, well-connected area of the country.”
